With each new version of the mobile operating system coming, two things are confirmed. First the changes that the new version brings in terms of ergonomics, power and compatibility and second the full name. Upcoming update of Android 8.0 aka Android O is just around the corner and our spider sense says go for Android Oreo.
if we look back at the time, third version of Android was released as Android 1.5 Cupcake. Google is having fun with the letters of the alphabet and confectionery since then. We had, Android 2.2 Froyo for “Frozen Yogurt” in 2010, or again, in 2013, Android 4.4 Kitkat. This was the second time that the giant Mountain View took a real brand name to give a name to it’s OS.
The latest OS, Android 7.0 , was named Nougat which is enjoyed as a candy in the United States. Since the announcement of Android 8.0 by Google, we know that the name of this new version will start with an O, what could it be?
Android Oreo Confirmed ?
Hiroshi Lockheimer, Android senior vice president, seems to have confirmed the name Android 8.0 Oreo on Twitter. In a tweet, dated February 20, 2017, the leader simply posted a small gif representing a cake that spins. The cake, however, is not trivial, since it is made with Oreo, the American biscuits. It seems that Android 8.0 is called Android Oreo. An idea that confirms the most insistent rumors. However the same Google employee predicted that Android 7.0 will be called Nutella, but that obviously didn’t happen.
Let’s see if we get Android Oreo this time or something else.
